Anchored: Part 1 - Mark My Words

Welcome back! If you're here, it's probably because you're as big a fan of God as you are music - just like me. I can't get enough and this year I'll be letting the Lord lead me to the endeavors regarding music that he has for me. I've been following Transformation Church for the last few years, and have been able to discern so much of God's purpose while watching Mike Todd's sermons. In his latest series, Anchored, he encourages us to keep our eyes set on the Lord despite the storms we are currently going through. It's been super dope putting my spin on his word and notes through songs and cultural references. All the songs referenced throughout this series will be on this playlist, Anchored: The Playlist. See how it all relates below. Check it out!

Without Vision, you are not your best self. Nobody has become great on accident.

Believe what God is saying. He’s always speaking. You can only mark God’s words by faith, not facts. Receive your receipt today, for something that will arrive later.

“When people do not accept divine guidance, they run wild. But whoever obeys the law is joyful.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭29:18‬

Vision is most valuable!

Vision is more valuable than money.

Vision takes a man to the moon!

Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon

Something can be valuable and still not your actual value. It’s the difference between worth and worthy of your time.

Vision needs to become YOUR VALUE. Vision is always vertical!

Chance the Rapper - We Go High

“For through him, God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.” - Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬

God doesn’t have a lack of vision, he has a lack of vessels. Vision is God’s investment.

You have the audacity!!!

Do not look at site, look at your vision.

“I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭18:8‬

Be sure that you set goals that allow you to say - MARK MY WORDS!

Here's a clip of Ye back in the day being the first to mark his words to Oprah. And ah yes, the G500 Wagon. The ultimate trophy to marking my word. It'll happen!

“Then the Lord said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.”

- ‭‭Habakkuk‬ ‭2:2‬

When you allow the spirit of God to lead your vision, then you can mark God’s word!

God gives vision in the valleys!

Diana Ross - Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Vision must be visible + Vision must be vocal!

Vision always makes you vulnerable

Vision is God‘s view.

Vision has versions.

Kingdom math doesn’t add up, it makes miracles.

Anchored: Week 2 - God Still Speaks

- John‬ ‭10:4-5‬

“I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.”

- ‭‭Malachi‬ ‭3:6‬

Jay-Z - Never Change

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

- ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬

  • God speaks in coincidences.

  • God speaks through his written word (Logos).

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

- ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬

“Then Gideon said to God, “If you are truly going to use me to rescue Israel as you promised, prove it to me in this way. I will put a wool fleece on the threshing floor tonight. If the fleece is wet with dew in the morning but the ground is dry, then I will know that you are going to help me rescue Israel as you promised.” And that is just what happened. When Gideon got up early the next morning, he squeezed the fleece and wrung out a whole bowlful of water. Then Gideon said to God, “Please don’t be angry with me, but let me make one more request. Let me use the fleece for one more test. This time let the fleece remain dry while the ground around it is wet with dew.” So that night God did as Gideon asked. The fleece was dry in the morning, but the ground was covered with dew.” - ‭‭Judges‬ ‭6:36-40‬

Big K.R.I.T - Prove It

God will confirm what he said publicly what he told you, privately.

Sunday Service - Souls Anchored

God speak to me! Don’t speak in how I desire, but speak in the way that keeps me anchored in your will.

Donnie McClurkin - Speak To My Heart

Jesus is our Anchor.

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” - ‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9‬

Anchored: Part 3 - It’s Not Safer In The Shallow

It's not safer in the shallow

You do not need an anchor in shallow waters.

Don't ask God to do deep things, when the water is shallow.

'Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”' - Luke 5:3-4

'I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.' - Psalms 42:7

An anchor is only needed in the deep.

'So let us stop going over the basic teachings about Christ again and again. Let us go on instead and become mature in our understanding. Surely we don’t need to start again with the fundamental importance of repenting from evil deeds and placing our faith in God. ' - Hebrews 6:1

You have to drop it low, into the deep.

FKJ ft. Tom Bailey - Drops

Big Sean - Deep

The debts of your life, need the depths of His love.

'Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. '

- Ephesians 4:11-14

The Anti-anchor is immaturity.

'This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. '

- Hebrews 6:19

What you are anchored to is not about the intention but all about the integrity.

You have an anchor.

'Think of all the hostility he endured from sinful people; then you won’t become weary and give up. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. '

- Hebrews 12:1-3

'So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.'

- 1 Corinthians 15:58

Together, we are the anchor!

N.E.R.D - Stay Together

Jesus' intention isn't just to save you from the storm but to sustain you through the storm.

Kali Uchis - After The Storm

Anchored: Part 4 - Welcome To The Deep

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” - ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:2‬ ‭

So We Out Here!

Westside Boogie - Outside ft. Joey Bada$$

The deep is where you don’t find the crowd. The deep is where you find the committed.

Decide before you detour.

“As evening came, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let’s cross to the other side of the lake.” So they took Jesus in the boat and started out, leaving the crowds behind (although other boats followed). But soon a fierce storm came up. High waves were breaking into the boat, and it began to fill with water. Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” The disciples were absolutely terrified. “Who is this man?” they asked each other. “Even the wind and waves obey him!””

- ‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:35-41‬

If you’re going to dwell in the deep, DON’T EVER FORGET YOUR ANCHOR.

Jesus was more intentional about impacting the disciples.

Your boat is not built for everybody. Leave the crowd behind.

At a certain point, there is no turning back. That is the point that must be reached. - KAFKA

The anchor does not excuse the storm.

The deep is not for devastation is for preparation.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

-‭‭ John‬ ‭16:33‬

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”

- ‭‭James‬ ‭1:2-4‬

“Even the wind and waves obey him!”

- ‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:35-41‬

Never trust an anchor with anxiety.

Marco Polo - Relax

Through the rain, the anchor continues. Don’t confuse visibility with value. Our anchor is authority. The storm has an expiration date.

Anchored: Part 5 - If You Say So

“Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.”” - ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:3-4‬

God does the dynamic in the deep.

Big Sean - Light

The deep has design. God doesn’t dwell in silence. When God is in your life he wants to direct.

Every decision in the deep has to be anchored in obedience.

“Master,” Simon replied, “We worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”

- ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:5‬

My declaration in the deep is...But if you say so!

The disappointment in the darkness is for development.

The deep doubles it!

Anchored: Part 6 - The Anti Drift

This is about a decision.

Paul was the most gangsta, anchored person. He was killing people and then he had a Damascus experience.

What are you doing between your loses and disappointments? Paul went through trials and tribulations but what are doing in between.

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Men,” he said, “I believe there is trouble ahead if we go on—shipwreck, loss of cargo, and danger to our lives as well.” But the officer in charge of the prisoners listened more to the ship’s captain and the owner than to Paul.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:10-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Nothing’s wrong with IT, it’s just not right for you.

2021 is the year of the anti-drift.

“And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:13-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Drifting begins when your obedience to God ends.

Sean Johnson - Obey

“When a light wind began blowing from the south, the sailors thought they could make it. So they pulled up anchor and sailed close to the shore of Crete.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Arrogance is the primary ingredient that will make you assume you take action without God. Close obedience is not close enough.

“You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:1-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But the weather changed abruptly, and a wind of typhoon strength (called a “northeaster”) burst across the island and blew us out to sea. The sailors couldn’t turn the ship into the wind, so they gave up and let it run before the gale.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:14-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“No one had eaten for a long time. Finally, Paul called the crew together and said, “Men, you should have listened to me in the first place and not left Crete. You would have avoided all this damage and loss. But take courage! None of you will lose your lives, even though the ship will go down.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:21-22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Take courage, the loss doesn’t mean you lose.

“For last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me, and he said, ‘Don’t be afraid, Paul, for you will surely stand trial before Caesar! What’s more, God in his goodness has granted safety to everyone sailing with you.’ So take courage! For I believe God. It will be just as he said. But we will be shipwrecked on an island.”

‭‭Acts of the Apostles‬ ‭27:2

Anchored: Part 7 - Distractions in the Deep

When you're in the deep, one degree makes the difference.

The drift doesn't matter if you're not going the distance.

  • You will truly notice this when you're walking in purpose. It's not that important if you just doing any and everything. But real ones feel the affect.

  • Ask God to expose you, so that you don't drift.

  • Being exposed is still God's grace.

In the deep, there are distractions.

jrd. - Distractions

'Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. In their fear, they cried out, “It’s a ghost!”' - Matthew 14:22-26

Emotional distraction debilitates your discernment.

Set your emotions on the Lord, so you minimize your distractions.

You need discernment in the deep.

Don't classify a "spooky" decision where God is present as an excuse to not be familiar with the Lord.

'But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!#14:27 Or The ‘I Am’ is here; Greek reads I am. See Exod 3:14.”'

Matthew 14:27

What God says in the deep is more important than what you see in the deep.

'Then Peter called to him, “Lord, if it’s really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water.” “Yes, come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.'

Matthew 14:28-30

Gary Clark Jr. - You Saved Me

Peter walked on the water toward Jesus. Step over the boat. You ain't gotta be perfect.

You are most vulnerable when you did it, but it's not done.

Liv.e - Lessons From My Mistakes...But I Lost Your Number

The goal is not to walk on water, the goal is to make it to Jesus.

'But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted.

- ' Matthew 14:30

Don't be so distracted, you draw a blank... He's a deliverer.

'He sang: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence.'

- 2 Samuel 22:2-3

'The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.'

- Psalms 18:2

'Some nations boast of their chariots and horses, but we boast in the name of the Lord our God.'

- Psalms 20:7

God's been a deliver. Distractions in the deep aren't always the devil. Distractions drown you when vision drifts.

'Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne. ' - Hebrews 12:1-2

Fix your Focus on the Lord. You always move in the direction of your focus.

It doesn't matter if you're focused, if you're focused on the wrong thing.

'Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”'

- Matthew 14:31

With God, the doubt won't drown you.
